Perched on a secluded Malibu hillside, this 3,100 sq. ft. single-story home was designed as a fire rebuild that balances refined midcentury aesthetics with modern modular construction. Our design-minded client sought to match the character of several existing buildings on the site, resulting in a warm stone-and-fire resistant wood palette and a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living.

Generous public spaces open to a wrap-around balcony with expansive coastal views, while an expressive cantilevered structure extends over the steep hillside, minimizing foundation work and reducing the need for a costly pile foundation. Designed within the 110% square-footage threshold for expedited fire-rebuild permitting, the project demonstrates how modular construction can deliver architectural ambition, efficiency, and resilience in challenging terrain.
